Student Story – Olivia Krepp
June 8, 2022

Olivia is from Sauk Rapids, MN. In 2022, she is graduating from NDSU’s Mechanical Engineering program with a minor in Entrepreneurship. Olivia credits her sister as her source of inspiration for her choosing a STEM career path. Her sister is the hardest working person Olivia knows: She has excelled in a male dominated field as a doctor at the Ohio State medical school.

This past year, Olivia, along with some other NDSU students worked on the NASA XHAB Moon to Mars rover project. They were tasked with designing and building a power generation rover that could travel to other stations/rovers and transfer power. This was an awesome experience for Olivia as it gave her the chance to learn a lot about different power generation and manufacturing techniques. In her last semester at NDSU, Olivia developed the idea of using the Mars Rover to deliver energy to areas hit by a natural disaster.

Olivia credits her entrepreneurship classes with improving her business and interpersonal skills. As a result of the Entrepreneurship minor Olivia feels a lot more comfortable communicating ideas and working with others to accomplish those visions. Olivia is currently working with Doosan Bobcat and hoping to get a full time engineering or project management position.
